Social Irrationalism in the Era of Neo-liberal Crisis? The Role of Politics, Science, Agrochemical Industry, and Civil Society in the Context of the TTIP Debate

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) should have been a 'game- changer' and a boost for the EU economy by creating more jobs and growth in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. By eliminating the remaining trade barriers, it would have established a transatlantic trade area connecting the two most powerful economies in the world. This Master's thesis utilizes four concepts of the neo-Marxist theory: key premises of the Amsterdam School, State theory of Bob Jessop and Nicos Poulantzas, combines Ulrich Beck's notion of risk society with Antonio Gramsci's role of intellectuals, and outlines the premise of commodification as a part of political ecology. The theoretical neo-Marxist prism facilitates the mapping of the crucial social agents functioning as the proponents of the TTIP agenda as a hegemonic project and those forces opposing the deal as a counter-hegemonic movement. This thesis reveals how the TTIP agreement was legitimized by the proponents but issues of transparency and other contradictions revolving around the deal attracted the attention of various civil society organizations (CSOs) that were concerned about TTIP's impact on public health and environment. Current social pathology and its image in the work of E. Durkheim

The aim of this paper is to acquaint the reader with the problems of socially pathological phenomena and theoretical approaches to the study of the phenomena. This is mainly theoretical content of the text. In the practical part, the author attempts to challenge social pathology to look somewhat less typical optics. Reveals a possible link between socio-pathological manifestations and forms of contemporary work . Émile Durkheim, respectively work in which the issues of their time engaged , the writer served as an imaginary point that both the mouth of the introductory chapter the practical part, which is also a kind of springboard for subsequent chronological shift toward the presence and characteristics of work that are typical of the current organized form . The aim of the author is also to point out the still current Durkheim reflection on the relationship between certain types of work and socio-pathological phenomena . The author of the text places significant emphasis on the historical and economic context of the transformation of work and trying to also capture the essential features of the thinking was typical of the period in which E. Durkheim formed. Much of the space is devoted to contemporary neoliberalism or phenomena associated with postmodernism, their relationship and access to socio- pathological phenomena.
Insufficiency of Neo-liberalistic and Neo-conservative Ideologies for the Development of Democracy

The article show that neoliberal and conservative ideologies, which prevail in prezent political thinking, are partly based on different values than the democratic orientation, and for that reason they do not assist sufficiently to the development of democracy.
